Die Casting

Cofan’s die casting is a manufacturing dimensions, smooth surfaces, and detailed features. It involves injecting molten metal under high pressure into a steel mold called a die, which consists of two halves forming the mold cavity. Typically using non-ferrous metals like aluminum, zinc, magnesium, and copper, each metal offers specific benefits; for example, aluminum is lightweight and corrosion-resistant, while zinc is highly ductile. The process begins with preparing the die, which is coated with a lubricant to facilitate part release and temperature control. Molten metal is injected into the die at high pressure, solidifies quickly, and the die opens to eject the finished casting. Excess material, known as flash, is then removed. Die casting can be performed using hot-chamber or cold-chamber methods. Hot-chamber die casting, suitable for lower melting point metals like zinc and magnesium, submerges the injection mechanism in molten metal. Cold-chamber die casting, used for higher melting point metals like aluminum, involves ladling molten metal into the injection system. Advantages of die casting include high production rates, precision parts with excellent surface finishes, and the ability to produce complex shapes.
